How are you all spending your weekend?  Last night Clayton's band played here in town.  It was a feather filled night lots of fun and great music. Teenanger is my new favourite band.  Tonight is Indian food with friends.  YUM!  I'm also excited for today because we rip out our horrible kitchen floor. Can't wait  to see what's underneath!  I'm hoping to show you all pictures of our house when the reno is done.  I know it's not really fashion related, but definitely lots of vintage goodies all over our house to show you.  Have a lovely weekend friends xox

Newbies

Hello!  Back in the swing of things today.  There are many things I hate about being away, one of which is all the catch up and cleaning there is to do when you get back.  I spent the day yesterday getting settled back in, and I feel refreshed and ready to go today.  I did some inventory yesterday on the Etsy shop, and sadly had to say goodbye to about 20 items.  I'm trying to stay positive, but that was a crude reminder of what went down two weeks ago now.  But chin up!  I have lots of new stuff to list in the shop, so I'll be working hard this week to get some of it in there.

I also wanted to show you a couple new jeweller pieces I have welcomed in to my own collection.  A little background info:  I love jewellery, and I have way too much of it, but I've been this way since I was small, that said, I am very excited to share my new items with you.

The first is my new Dinosaur Toes necklace. I'm head over heels in love with it.  I chose an orangy/peach coloured mineral.  The contrast of the beautiful natural stone in the bullet is genius in my opinion, and I'll be wearing this necklace all summer guaranteed!  If you already haven't checked out Danielle's store, you must!  She also has a pretty blog.  This is good stuff people.

The second item is a giant ring I bought while away last week on my work trip.  We were staying at a ski resort that had a village filled with pricey fancy shops. There was on shop that got my attention, tho, and it was filled with great jewellery.  Unique designs with all different kinds of materials.  I was immediately attracted to this ring I bough. It's sterling silver with an amber piece of glass.  The price was right, and I can't pass up a chunky ring.  It reminds me of some of the brutalist style jewllery in the mid century modern style. The ring is made by jewellery designer Anne-marie Chagnon.

One more thing before I go. Check out K come Karolina for a chance to win a $50 gift certificate to The Vintage Ramble Etsy shop.  Good Luck!!

Home At Last

Major Fail #1  Figured out the self timer on my camera, but could quite get it positioned right....
Hope you all had a relaxing Easter weekend, and enjoying whatever version of spring your area has to offer  today.  I am happy to say I am home and comfortably typing this in my pj's. It's been a loooooong week and home was just what I needed.  Between the stress of our car break in, and our kitchen reno, and a new boss at work, I was feeling a bit overwhelmed yesterday, and didn't get around to posting yet another set of poor quality photos I took of another outfit I wore last week to a work dinner.  I am stubbornly showing these photos even tho they are almost undecipherable, cause I actually took the time to take the photo and I don't seem to ever dress up so bare with me here, and pretend they are good. ok?  If anything these pictures will demonstrate to you why I am hopeless when it comes to documenting my wares in photos....

Major Fail #2 The lighting was so bad you can barely make out what I am wearing, so behold the silhouette of my body, with red shoes?? I don't know, who can tell.
The theme of the dinner was black and white.  So I wore a ruffle front cotton dress with a tie belt that I tied in the front and tied in a bow.  I added a short sleeved black cardigan over it with a vintage black and white enamel flower pin.  (The pin made the outfit in my opinion...)  I set off the mostly black outfit with red shoes and black tights.  I really loved this outfit and hope to be able to wear it again.  The shoes will definitely be making another appearance soon.

Today I'm hoping to do inventory on my lost items and update the etsy shop to make sure I still have all the items listed in the shop.  My apologies if you were waiting to buy something.  The shop will hopefully be reopened later today.

The Chosen One(s)

Happy Monday friends!  Today I thought I'd show you the outfit I wore for company picture day.  I'm sorry for the poor quality pictures.  All the items I wore today were things I had never worn before, so I am catching up on my chosen one spots.  The shoes, the dress and the cardigan have all been sitting patiently in my closet.  I really liked this outfit even tho I was a bit hesitant at first to pack it, because it's not like any outfit I've worn to work before. However it was very comfortable, flattering, and I love all the pieces.  I hope to wear the shoes again tomorrow.  They are very comfortable  and TALL!  The whole outfit cost about $20 and is all secondhand.  Tomorrow is back to jeans.  The weather has taken a turn for the worst over here (snow) so it's been chilly so jeans it is tomorrow!

The Perils Of A Travelling Merchant

It's been quite the weekend....it's funny how your day can change so dramatically within a matter of seconds.  Yesterday we discovered that our car had been broken into and that many of my precious vintage pieces had been stolen from the back seat.  I cringe everytime I visualize yet another cherished dress that was in that stolen bag.  If only I could wake up now and this whole thing was just a dream.  But, dear friends, it is still very much a real thing, and I am still struggling to accept what happened.

It is my first night away at a week long work conference and I feel helpless that I can't be home searching for my stolen property.  So I write this in liu of searching, to cope with the loss.  It's funny how attached I have become to the garments that were in that bag.  I remember each one of them fondly and my tummy flips a little when I think that they are probably gone forever.  In a way I feel foolish because they are only things, but its much more than that that I feel loss for.  I feel like all the hard work in finding, storing, packing and unpacking and caring for these items has totally been wasted now all because of what a thief perceived to be in this bag.  Guaranteed the people who did this aren't sitting at home rooting through these dresses doing spins in their living rooms while sipping a bud lite enjoying the rewards of thievery.  If only the robbers were thorough and checked the bag before they stole it. But that's probably not how this all works.  It's in and out and what you get, well that's in the luck of the draw.

Not the best way to start this week's posts, but I know I can count on all you lovely readers to listen to me when something's up.  So I'm keeping my chin up and, forging ahead.  This just means I have a lot of searching for new items since a good number of items were taken.  This also means that my Etsy shop will be on vacation mode until I get back from my trip and am able to do inventory on all the items I have left.  There may have been some items from the Esty shop that are now gone, so to make sure, I am taking this added precaution.  To cheer myself up, I'm going to read the rest of Bossypants and go to bed.  Tomorrow is a new day and I'm still holding on to hope that someone calls with the good news that they found my stuff.  Until then bisous. xox

Friday's Most Wanted

I'll start today's most wanted list off with a funny story.... Last night to pass the time, I made a trip out to Value Village, with only an hour to shop which is a little less time than I'm used to. I made a concerted effort to make my searching brief but hopefully fruiteful.  As I whisked through the store putting what seemed to be everything and anything in my cart, I couldn't help but feel like a contestant on supermarket sweep.  That said by the time I was finished my rounds, my cart was loaded.  After some careful editing, I managed to dwindle my pile down to a managable purchase.  As I approached the cash, the young chap look at my heap and then looked at me.  He was not impressed. The store was closing in 5 minutes and he still had some work to do.  In comes the chatty customer behind me. The woman, not shy to ask, wanted to know if all this stuff was for me.  So I let her in on what I was up to.  The young chap was suddenly engaged, and says "OH!  that explains why your always in here buying so much stuff!  I just thought you were a hoarder or something  like that.  So your a regular person like me and this lady..."  I couldn't help but crack a smile and reassure him that I was in fact just a regular person, who was simply buying things to sell.  I'm not gonna lie, it felt good to get that out there.  I secretly hoped he would let all his co-workers in on the news since I often feel a bit funny buying so much stuff.  All in all it was a good trip to VV (my new prada platforms would agree)  On
that note let's run down today's list.

I looooooooove this dress.  The collar is tops! Found here

Gearing up for a little peacock DIY project. These feather are soo pretty! Found Here

Getting Dressy

Hi!  I wanted to pop in and do a post yesterday about my packing adventures, BUT I was thrown a curve ball yesterday afternoon, and had to reconficure my whole packing schema.  Yes friends, a schema.  It's very complicated this packing thing, so having a good plan is essential.  So today I thought I'd make up for my absense and give you a bit of a peek into some new items coming to the shop.  I will be away for 7 whole days so I want to have the shop stocked for when I'm away.  I hope to still be posting next week so stop by...

I'm excited for summer merchandise.  I have so many cute summer dresses to list, I can hardly wait.  Thinking of going thrifting tonight, so stay tuned for what's to come!  I hope the sun is shining as birghtly where you are as it is right here. Bisous!

Show 'Em What You Got

So yesterday we established that Sunday was a pretty great day.  Amongst many of the wonderful people I got to talk to at Art Marmalade, was Jodi from Frou Frou Zoo. So today I'd like to share with you one of Durham region's hidden secrets....

As a lover of all things vintage, Jodi got my attention with her beautiful pin up photography.  To my amazement her models were just regular gals like myself.  The pictures are fabulous and all the ladies in them look like they had been doing this for years!

Jodi definitely has a knack for transforming each and every one of her clients in to a one of a kind pin up star.  I love the concept and would hope to one day muster up enough courage to do it.  To have my hair and makeup in pin up style would be so fun, not to mention dressing up for the occasion! I think I'd do something nautical inspired....  If you could mimic any pinup character who would you be?

Adventures In Weekendland

My table at Art Marmalade -Orono
You know, the one thing I hate so much about weekends?? They are over in a snap.  I could really use a third day.  Who's with me?  This past weekend was no exception.  It was packed with chores, and catching up, and a few fun things thrown in.

My needlepoints

Another needlepoint....

This and that....
I treated myself to some retail therapy on Saturday morning, then came home and did some stuff for our kitchen in progress.  Sunday started off stormy but turned out to be quite a pleasant day.  I had a table in a craft show a few towns over.  It was a great day filled with people watching, chatting with locals, and meeting some wonderful artists.  It was a very chill day, which was something I needed.  I really liked my table set up at this show, and look forward to my next craft table.   I thought I'd share a bit of what I make with you here and give you a peak at how I set it all up.

If only I was allowed to have a pink bedroom, these pillows would not have left my house
I also wanted to let you all know I finally updated my Etsy shop with the beginning of some of my summer stock.  Come back and visit soon, and I'll be sure to have many more summery treasures ready for you.

Friday's Most Wanted

You thought I forgot to post my most wanted list today, didn't you?  Well today was one of those days.  I knew from the moment I got out of bed it was going to be a challenging day.... but I seemed to beat it, and it has ended up being a pretty good day.  I got a lot done, and am now back on track and ready to finish the day off right.  Better late than never, i guess.

I have a bunch of stuff I wanted to share with you this week.  There are a lot of dresses in this week's list.  I've been shopping around for a dress to wear to one of my summer weddings coming up.  Sadly the dresses I had in my closet aren't quite fitting me the way I would like. At any rate here is some inspiration for your weekend.
Love the black and white with lacy detail.  Found here

This had me at hello. This would be an awesome beach bag and would compliment my neutral bathing suite!
Found here

I love this dress so much.  The colour is gorgeous and would look great with wavy hair and red lips nes pas? Found here

Love everything in Mooreaseal's shop.  I think this ring is so appealing because of it's round shape. This definitely fits in with my ever expanding mineral jewellery collection. Found here

This dress makes me want to marry my husband again.  Wouldn't this be a cute wedding dress??  Found here

The perfect recipe box in my opinion.   Found here

A nice reminder.  Found here
Hope you all have a great weekend.  And don't forget to come on out to the Art Marmalade sale in Orono on Sunday!  xox

It's been a busy week, as I've been preparing for a craft show on Sunday.  If you live in the area (Durham region that is) come pay a visit to Orono on Sunday afternoon.  From 1:30-6:30 there will be fashion, music and art for sale and for show.  Yours truely will be set up with a table.  I have been working on some needle point, pillows, and other fun accessories.  Check out my facebook page for a sample of what I make.

I Couldn't Help Myself

Hello friends!  Thanks for hanging in with me after yesterday's dilemma post.  I'm thinking a bit more on the bright side today, and so I've been thinking of warmer days. Summer couldn't come quickly enough in my opinion.

I've been meaning to post this for a while, but keep forgetting.  Today tho, I was dreaming of the lake, and so I wanted to show you my new bathing suit!  Now I should forward this reveal with a little fact about myself.  I hate wearing bathing suits.  I've never liked it.  I've always been er how shall I put this.... body soft.  So bathing suits were always really awkward for me.  I haven't worn one in about 3 years and really wasn't planning on wearing one this year, until I went grocery shopping recently..... I guess I should explain how grocery shopping makes me want to wear a bathing suit.  Well if you live in Canada you are likely aware of Joe Fresh.  Joe Fresh is sold in many local superstore supermarkets, and inevitably I go to buy apples, and end up with a whole new wardrobe.  This time I was good, and only bought a bathing suit. I just couldn't help myself.  The suit is so darn cute, and mind blowingly flattering. Joe Fresh has discovered a secret formula when it comes to bathing suits... The suite was very reasonably priced and I love the vintage feel it has. Those ruffles are darling.

I may just wear this around the house all summer.  Don't be surprised if you come over and find me hanging out in my bathing suit.  What?! that's perfectly normal for an almost 30 year old woman, no? Maybe I'll be eating a popsicle too.  Let the summer countdown begin :)

A Dilemma In Dressing

I had reservations about posting this, but I am curious to see what others think, and if you have ever been faced with this before.  At the risk of exposing myself a little here, I want to share this little dilemma with you all....
One thing I noticed as I got older and took on more adult responsibilities I found myself playing more roles as a person.  A wife, a friend, a professional, a creative person, a daughter, etc. etc. Somewhere in there, defining myself became kinda hard.  I used to be pretty sure of who I was back in my teens and early twenties, but that line has become so blurred.  As an introvert, I used clothing to really be my voice.  And expressing myself in the way I dressed was and still is very important to me, however not knowing where you really fit can make this hard.

I used to work in an office, and would find myself dressing the way I thought people would want me to dress.  In other words, in clothes that I really  hated, and didn't feel comfortable in.  I now work from home , but have to see my coworkers once and a while.  While I look forward to getting dolled up to leave the house for a meeting or work function, there is always a little part of me that wishes I could wear an outfit that's a little unexpected, a little bit more me.

This all came about because I have an upcoming work trip, and was trying to plan what to pack.  I thought to myself, how stupid I was being trying to fit into someon elses mold.  I thought why don't I dress like I normally would around these people?  The thought made me nervous, but made total sense.  I'm tired of worrying too much about what others expect of me.

I have decided to really try going forward to represent myself in a way that is real, and individual.  After all, I do have ideas, opinions, and a style, I shouldn't hold back.  So, I'm curious..... have any of you gone through something similar?  Was it hard for you to stay true to yourself?  In an effort to always be better, this is definetly a challenge for me, and I am committed to change.

I usually try to keep it light over here, but it's good sometimes to write things down, and be a little exposed.  So thanks for listening xox

Last Weekend In Thrift Land

Hello Monday!  I a little late in the day to be posting, but Mondays are busy, so better late than never!  Thought I'd pop in and share with you some of my thrift finds from this past weekend.  So here is what I found:

1 pair of brown and white oxfords. amazing, amazing, amazing!
1 pair of taupe mid calf boots.
1 pair of shoe stretchers (these have been on my look list for many weeks)

Oxfords with shoe stretchers in action

1 adorable kitty
1 vintage Escada mohair sweater with the most wonderful triangles
1 floral broach with pearls
1 pair of the most wonderfully textured stud earings
1 pair of the most miniature clogs I have ever seen (these are also a broach/pin)
1 single silver earing (going to use it as a pendant on a necklace)

Single earring.  Going to add it to a silver chain and pair it with my new Dinosaur Toes bullet necklace!

The best for last.... these are the cuttest things I've ever seen :)
I'm dying to wear/use it all!  It was a successful trip to VV this time 'round.  I also got a lot of amazing things for the shop.  I know I said I would be updating the shop last week, but sadly I ran out of time, so this week it is.  Loads of rompers, shorts and skirts coming your way!
