Outfit And a Mixed Tape

Gippie

Here it is friends.  This week's outfit and mix.  This mix was inspired by Joanna's post the other day.  So here it is. Today's mix

Jam packed weekend ahead.  Halloween party tonight. I have been so excited for this day.  Clayton and I have our costumes all picked out (major vintage components in both our costumes).  I won't reveal just yet what our costumes are.  I'll let the pictures do the talking on Monday.  Saturday we see the Sadies! And we can't forget the handing out of Halloween treats on Sunday...  Have a fashionable and safe Halloween everyone!

Sometimes it's ok to pretend

It's no secret that I'm dying to have  a wee vintage shop to call my own.  Doing the Vintage Ramble is teaching me a lot about the business and is helping me build a name, but I tend to be impatient....  So what's the best cure for this impatience you may ask??? Well I set up shop in my basement!  It's only temporary, but I love seeing all my finds hung neatly together.  It's like a vintage reunion. All those threads can all mingle on the racks and catch up! I actully set up all the racks for a few reasons, but it was a lovely reminder to stay focused and keep working towards my goal.

Shop Update

Just a few of my favourites now listed in the Esty shop.  I'm loving the bohemian looks for fall winter this year.  Loads of layers, length, leathers and feathers.  While none of these specifically have these qualities, they could easily be incorporated into a look that is both bohemian and suitable for colder weather. Enjoy!

p.s the two tops will be added later today.  Stay tuned.

Style Muse Anna Karina

French films.  Does it get any better than that?  When I think of classic French films, Anna Karina is the first thing to mind.  It helps that she was directed by one of the all time greats Jean Luc Godard.  Aside from my taste in movies, I think Anna defines that French romantic look that we are all looking to own a part of in our everyday styles.  Feminine and easy.  Laid back and cool, yet totally desirable.  Even when her looks are playful they are always a little bit je ne sais quoi....

First let's start with the hair. Perfect for framing those big doey eyes.  Any easy style to compliment that laid back way of dressing.  The hair adds a little sass too.  Let's not forget the sass.  The first film I saw Anna Karina in, was Vivre Sa Vie, and the first thing I noticed was what a great haircut she had.  It struck me how modern she looked.

Anna's playful side.  I especially love the hats.  In so many images she is wearing a hat.  Berets, fedoras, straw hats.... she's got them all covered, and she wears them all beautifully.

Anna is a vixen, a mysterious beauty.  Her look is elegant and accessible, and I guess that's why I love her...

one more thing.... how much do I want this!?! From Every Little Counts

Day 3: Platform Week

My grandma told me that in her youth, girls used to take cork scraps to the cobbler and have their shoes made in to platforms with the cork they had collected.  Oh how I wish I had a time machine go back and see some of those shoes.  My curiousity was peaked after hearing this story, so I set out to find some examples of platforms from the 30's and 40's. I never realized how modern some of the platforms from the 30's really looked.  Today's day three platforms are a great example of 40's cork platforms

Day 2: Platform Week

I was at a family party recently and I was wearing a pair of my highest platforms.  To my surprise everyone noticed I had grown about 4 inches ( I wish!).  Needless to say my shoes became quite the conversation piece.

Oh how I wish these fit me!

Platform Week

I can't get enough of platforms.  I love them for so many reasons (one because I'm short) so I am dedicating a whole week to some of my Etsy favourite platforms.  Behold Monday's favourite.

Second Skin, Second Chance

                                                                Photo Via Second Skin

A new (to me) blog was added to my blog roll yesterday.  This gal has killer style and a great blog called Second Skin.  She is currently selling a huge collection of vintage items, and I must say I commend her for her strength because there are some amazing pieces up for sale.

Lately I've been feeling like unburdening myself from all the clothes in my overflowing closets ( yes that's an s on closet... I have more than 1) it's become too much.  Too much to sort through the messiness to put together an outfit, too much to remember all the items I have that may by hidden away, too much to constantly shuffle things around to accommodate a new item.  But alas parting with some of my clothes would be just too much heartbreak for me.  So until i muster up the courage, I will live vicariously through Christina.  So hop on over to Second Skin and have a look.  Maybe some of these great pieces can get a second chance...

Outfit and A Mixed Tape

                              Inspired

I have decided to start combining two of my most favourite things in life on the blog, music and fashion. Here is what I came up with. This outfit is inspired by this mix. A little mellow, a little intense, a lot beautiful. Hope you enjoy.
